About the Position:

We are accepting applications from talented programmers to join our company and help us meet the expanding needs of our customers. Members of our development department address bugs and implement new features across multiple applications with a combination of tools and languages. We are a small, efficient team who relies on creative problem solving and wide areas of expertise.


  • Update and expand existing programs
  • Debug programs by testing for and fixing errors
  • Transforming software designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language
  • Demonstrable ability to discover and fix errors in the code

Abilities & Skills:

An ideal candidate for this position would be curious, analytical and self-motivated. Technology changes every day and we need programmers who are driven to meet that challenge. We maintain a relaxed working environment and employees must be capable of productivity without constant oversight. Previous programming experience is required, though this may come from formal education, employment, a boot camp or even a hobby. Knowledge of PHP or Ruby on Rails is preferred. Experience with project management is also appreciated.

About the Position:

We’re looking for a specialist to work alongside developers in improving our products and services. In a general sense, QA specialists are the testers/gatekeepers who ensure our rigorous standards are met before changes go out.   • Vet reported bugs
  • Replicate the issue
  • Clearly describe the issue for development
  • Test bug fixes
  • Verify the fix
  • Ensure no additional bugs were introduced
  • Document behavioral changes that may have resulted from the fix
  • Work with Planning to write test cases for upcoming projects
  • Run test cases on new and updated features
  • Clearly describe the outcome of each test
  • Perform general testing where needed

Abilities & Skills

  • Solid communication skills particularly in written form
  • Be a problem-solver
  • Possess an ability to think logically and break tasks down step-by-step
  • Have an eye for detail to notice things others may overlook
  • Be self-motivated to learn and to pick up the next task

Knowledge & Experience

  • Working knowledge of a programming language
    • Experience with php and/or Ruby on Rails is preferred.
  • Experience in testing automation
  • Experience with development and project management tools such as GitHub, BitBucket, Trello, Docker, etc.
  • Experience in fields our products touch such as accounting, human resources, library or cafeteria management, etc.
  • Experience in a school setting particularly with educational technology.

New School Specialist

About the Position:

At other companies, customer service is an afterthought – but not here. At Sycamore Education, everything we do is to make our customers’ lives that much more simple. We are looking for people who want to help us continue to provide phenomenal experience to our customers.

New School Specialists work with our newest customers, training them and setting them up for success in the years to come. This includes: providing individualized training of the software, assisting with data migration, and supporting customers throughout their set up of their Sycamore site.



  • Training new customers in the Sycamore School software and processes
  • Migrating new school data into the system
  • Being the point of contact for questions and concerns from new Sycamore schools
  • Operating a Live Chat feature provided to all teachers that use Sycamore School
  • Providing accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools
  • Building sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication
  • Handling complaints, providing appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits and following up to ensure resolution
  • Keeping records of customer interactions, processing customer accounts and filing documents
  • Assisting the customer support team with tickets and support calls when necessary

Abilities & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, especially written
  • Comfortable making and receiving phone calls with customers
  • Passion for helping other people succeed
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability, especially in working with different personalities and customer success criteria

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous customer service experience (knowledge in de-escalation techniques a bonus)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet tools
  • Strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of Academic organization is a plus
